Testimonial: Former MLB Pitcher Scores A New Role in Sales

At NexGoal, we take our athlete career placements very seriously – which is why our Project Coordinators spend so much time working with each candidate to put them in the best position to succeed. Once our candidates are placed, we like to take the time to share that candidate’s journey with all of you.

Our client is a nation-leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of quality medical products used to safeguard patients and the professionals who care for them. Within their recent growth, they’ve made a push to bring on motivated, competitive sales professionals across the country. Priding themselves on their collaborative team and industry-leading training, our client quickly secured a reputation atop the Medical Devices Industry.

Recently, we had the pleasure of connecting our client’s Los Angeles branch with a former MLB pitcher, Craig Clayton. With All-American honors at Loara High School and California State University, Craig cemented himself in school history as one of the most decorated two-way players. Via Baseball-Reference: “During his final year at Cal State, he batted .364/.428/.564 with 100 hits in 63 games at the plate and was 14-5 with 15 complete games (in 18 starts), a 2.25 ERA and 9.32 K/9 IP mark on the mound.” This led to Craig having the honor of getting drafted by the Seattle Mariners, generating a seven-year professional career bouncing around Mariners’ and San Diego Padres’ farm systems.

Within the wide variety of athlete’s in-demand traits, Craig’s level of confidence, persistence, and competitive drive perfectly aligned with our client’s desired employee attributes. Paired with an elite sales track record in expanding territories and consistent award recognition, we knew Craig was just what our client was looking for. He joins the growing list of highly qualified candidates we have helped place into a new career.

What led Craig to choose NexGoal? As a result of our team’s recruiting efforts, Senior Recruiter Brittany Brady connected with Craig, and he quickly expressed interest in the position. “NexGoal reached out to me regarding a job that I was interested in. Brittany Brady was fantastic, energetic, and lead me through the entire process. It made it easy to continue working with NexGoal and Brittany.”

When asked about his experience working with Brittany and the NexGoal team, Craig had this to say: “Brittany had high energy and was constantly checking in. I felt like I had someone working for me to get me into my new career.” Craig continued to express his thankfulness in stating that he had an “Amazing experience” working with Brittany to nail down this excellent job opportunity in the illustrious Medical Device industry.

With the core of our business surrounding athlete job seekers, Craig was confident in recommending that other former athletes and competitive-minded job seekers come to NexGoal when looking for their next career. “It was the entire experience from start to finish. Brittany’s enthusiasm, and reminders were a big help. Again, it was as if I had a partner going through this.”

The NexGoal team would like to thank Craig for his kind words, and we wish him continued success in his new role as Medical Device Sales Representative.

If you desire to operate in a happy and stress-free work environment for your next step in the Medical Device Industry, we have the opportunity for you! We look forward to placing you in your next career. You can fill out our Athlete Candidate page here.
